About Labrador aging. Labradors typically live 10–12 years. Most begin to show signs of aging around 7–8 years: a greying muzzle, stiffness on stairs, less stamina and a slower metabolism that makes weight gain easy. They are also prone to hip and elbow dysplasia, obesity and cataracts in later life — so regular vet check-ups, a healthy weight and gentle daily exercise are the best ways to keep an older Labrador comfortable.
